While leafy, dark greens are quite nutritious, it can be inconvenient to prepare them. It could become annoying when removing their tough stems. However, a simple tip is to take the leaf and fold it in half along the stem, you can then easily take the stem out of the middle. Or, you can use a knife and cut out the stem from the folded leaf. Either of these techniques will result in nice, stem-free leaves.

Herbs and spices need to be kept in a dry, cool area, away from light. Exposing them to humidity, light or warm environments will dry them out more and dissipate the flavors and aromas. This will ensure your spices will not be as good to use.

It is essential to remain organized when cooking, so that you do not burn food or make other blunders. Having an organized cooking area will ensure that you are productive when cooking. Also, organize your refrigerator and pantry to avoid buying unnecessary items that will eventually be thrown out.

If you want to make chicken stock, you might as well make a lot of it. If you make a large pot of stock, you can freeze it and store it for future use. Good homemade chicken stock is a wonderful base in soups, stews, casseroles and more. Put the stock into freezer bags and put it in your freezer.

Cover them in a bit of seasoned flour, then fry them in some hot butter for about two minutes until they turn golden brown. You can also bake oysters while still in their shells. Put them into a casserole dish and then add some butter and breadcrumbs over the top. Put in the oven and bake for five minutes at 425 degrees. They are done when the juices on top of each oyster are bubbling. They go great with toasted baguettes.

Always use soft, not melted butter when you are making cookies. If your butter is melted, however, harden it a little bit by freezing it for a couple of minutes. Your dough will spread the right amount if the dough is cooler.

Check out some hardy greens that are best during winter. When it gets colder, these vegetables taste a lot sweeter. Pick deep and bright greens, avoiding the yellow and limp ones. Be careful when washing these greens, as they can accumulate a lot of dirt. First, fully submerge each bunch in cold water. After removing the greens, shake them off and rinse thoroughly.

Potatoes that are waxy hold their shape nicely, and are good for boiling and steaming. Regular white or red potatoes are the most common waxy varieties.

Quickly cooking veggies is preferable to slow-cooking methods. Though slow cooking is popular in some cultures, the process actually eliminates important nutrients and renders the vegetables tasteless. These cooking techniques will yield vegetables that are healthier and taste great as well. The key to improving your vegetables is learning how you can cook them in the minimum amount of time.
